Hyaluronic acid 50mg - 60 capsules
Hyaluronic acid with high bioavailability
Hyaluronic acid is not only crucial for a smooth and fresh skin, but it is also the main component of the synovial fluid and acts as a lubricant during all joint movements. Its main function is to regulate the nutrient transport of the extracellular matrix (intercellular space) in the body.
Further properties of hyaluronic acid:
- Water storage: Every gram is able to bind up to 6 litres of water. For example, the vitreous body of the eye consists of 98% water, which is bound to only 2% hyaluronic acid.
- Pressure resistance: Water is virtually not compressible and it passes this property on to tissues rich in hyaluronic acid, for example the core of intervertebral disc, which is able to carry large parts of the body weight.
- Lubricating function: Hyaluronic acid is the main component of the synovial fluid and acts as a lubricant during all joint movements.
- Hyaluronic acid is responsible for the nutrient transport in areas of the body where the blood vessels end (for example the inside of the joints).
- It is also responsible for the removal of metabolic products from tissues without a good blood supply (for example the typical problem areas)
Fermentation-derived hyaluronic acid
When you buy hyaluronic acid, pay attention to the source from which it is derived. Often times hyaluronic acid is made from rooster combs or cow’s eyes.
Hyaluronic acid by Fairvital is produced by fermentation. This production process not only guarantees that the product is free from any animal-based constituents, but also that the body is able to absorb the hyaluronic acid molecules properly. Unlike nano products, this product retains the specific properties of the hyaluronic acid (e.g. water binding, pressure resistance, viscosity).
Occurrence of hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid occurs in the entire body and over 50% can be found in the skin. It is produced in the skin itself, by subcutaneous connective tissue cells.
Hyaluronic acid is the main component of the filling material between the skin cells (connective tissue matrix) and it stabilises collagen and elastin fibres as well as structural proteins. It is able to enlarge its volume many times over like a sponge, due to its enormous moisture storage capacity, and it bolsters up the skin from within.
Hyaluronic acid for the joint fluid
Hyaluronic acid is the main component of the synovial fluid and significant amounts of hyaluronic acid also occur in the articular cartilage. It is a long-chain, high-molecular substance, which has a high viscosity due to its structure. It means that is not as liquid as water, but more viscous like honey. During joint movements, this viscosity prevents the lubricant from being squeezed out of the joint line, which would cause the lubricating film to break. Apart from its viscosity, the flow properties of hyaluronic acid can change depending on the strain put on them.
