Chondroitin Plus - 90 capsules
Chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, calcium, vitamin D and E
Chondroitin consists of recurring molecular chains, the so-called mucopolysaccharides. Besides the structuring of the cartilage, it is responsible for the water binding capacity and the nutrient permeability. Because cartilages do not contain blood vessels, which could provide it with nutrients, the nutrient permeability is especially important. The property ensures the nourishment of the cartilage via diffusion and that the cartilage receives all important nutrients.
Hyaluronic acid: buffer and lubricant for the joints
Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in our joints. Its functions include buffering and lubrication, the nutrient supply of the cartilage and the removal of metabolic products. Furthermore, it is essential for the health of the synovial fluid (joint fluid).
If we compare the joints in the human body with a car, the hyaluronic acid in the joints can be equated with the oil in the engine. The oil has to be change on a regular basis, because heat, combustion residues, friction and oil aging decrease its viscosity. The oil becomes thinner and is not able to protect the metal surfaces or to lubricate the engine anymore. Hyaluronic acid plays the same role in our joints.
Vitamin D for strong bones
The body needs vitamin D as a resorption helper to resorb calcium. It is an essential partner for calcium, because it is involved in the calcium’s resorption and deposition in the bones.
Vitamin E protects the cells
Vitamin E has antioxidant properties, which can protect cells and tissues.
Studies confirm an increased bioavailability of glucosamine and chondroitin when taken with a delay
The time-delayed intake of the joint nutrients glucosamine and chondroitin increases the bioavailability and enhances the joint protection.
Excerpt from a study published in 2006 by Jackson in the Official Journal of American College of Rheumatism (ACR): “When you look at the combinations of glucosamine and chondroitin, which have become more and more up-to-date over the last years, additive effects of both components could be demonstrated. Even better results can be shown if glucosamine and chondroitin are taken with a delay, because chondroitin decreases the resorption of glucosamine by up to 42% and affects it negatively.”
The detailed study has also been published in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage on pages 297 to 302 in 2010.
