Arthro Protect Forte
Arthro Protect Forte: powerful formula for your joints with glucosamine, chondroitin, collagen, hyaluronic acid, MSM, calcium, vitamin D and E
Arthro Protect Forte includes three components with valuable nutrients for your joints for a month:
- 90 capsules Glucosamine with collagen (3 capsules in the morning)
- 90 capsules MSM (6 capsules in divided doses throughout the day)
- 90 capsules Chondroitin Plus (3 capsules in the evening)
Excerpt from a study published in 2006 by Jackson in the Official Journal of the American College of Rheumatism (ACR): “A closer look at the recent combinations of glucosamine and chondroitin for some years now, recent studies showed additive effects of both components. Even better results are expected from the delayed consumption of glucosamine and chondroitin, because chondroitin decreases the resorption of glucosamine by up to 42% and affects it negatively.”
By now, the detailed paper has been published in 2010 in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage on page 297 to 302.
Glucosamine and chondroitin
The articular cartilage consists of chondrocytes (cartilage cells) and a so-called matrix. 50% of this matrix is made of collagen, proteoglycans and water. Proteoglycans include glucosamine and chondroitin.
Due to the usual daily demands, it is necessary that the cartilages constantly regenerate themselves. Glucosamine as a basic structural element of the articular cartilage is able to activate this process.
Chondroitin is an important cartilage component as well. It consists of recurring molecular chains, the so-called mucopolysaccharides. Besides the structuring of the cartilage, it is responsible for the water binding capacity and the nutrient permeability. Because cartilages do not contain blood vessels, which could provide it with nutrients, the nutrient permeability is especially important. The property ensures the nourishment of the cartilage via diffusion and that the cartilage receives all important nutrients.
Collagen
The contained collagen is characterised by very interesting properties. It is a structure-providing component of the connective tissue and it provides it with elasticity, firmness and resistance to pressure and expansion. Furthermore, it can be found in the ligaments and tendons, which support the joints and connect the bones with the muscles.
Hyaluronic acid: buffer and lubricant
Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in our joints. Its functions include buffering and lubrication, the nutrient supply of the cartilage and the removal of metabolic products. Furthermore, it is essential for the health of the synovial fluid (joint fluid).
If we compare the joints in the human body with a car, the hyaluronic acid in the joints can be equated with the oil in the engine. The oil has to be change on a regular basis, because heat, combustion residues, friction and oil aging decrease its viscosity. The oil becomes thinner and is not able to protect the metal surfaces or to lubricate the engine anymore. Hyaluronic acid plays the same role in our joints.
Vitamin D for strong bones
The body needs vitamin D as a resorption helper to resorb calcium. It is an essential partner for calcium, because it is involved in the calcium’s resorption and deposition in the bones.
Vitamin E for cell preotection
Vitamin E has antioxidant properties, which contribute to the protection of cells.
MSM: organic sulphur
Sulphur plays an important role during an increased cartilage metabolism. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) supplies the body with this sulphur. It is an organic, biologically active sulphur compound, which is easily resorbed by the body. MSM also occurs in food. For example, small amounts occur in fruits, vegetables, cereals und animal-based products. Relatively large amounts can be found in cow’s milk, coffee and tea.
