Turmeric capsules with ginger and frankincense
Traditional plant extracts and powders have been used for centuries as food or in alternative health science. Fairvital has combined three of them in a food supplement with vitamin C and black pepper extract: turmeric (also: Curcuma), ginger and frankincense.
The daily dose of 3 capsules contains 240mg vitamin C, 1500mg turmeric extract, of which 1425mg curcuminoids, 240mg ginger powder, 240mg boswellia extract, of which 156mg boswellic acids and 12mg black pepper extract, of which 11.4mg piperine.
Frankincense extract from Boswellia serrata
Frankincense is particularly known for its intense, characteristic smell, for which the essential oils and boswellic acids contained in frankincense are responsible. Particularly rich in boswellic acids is the Indian frankincense Boswellia serrata, which contains 15-16% of the resin acids. In frankincense extracts, these are far more concentrated: Fairvital's Boswellia extract is standardised to contain at least 65% boswellic acids.
The frankincense resin is extracted by cutting the trunk and branches, where a sticky liquid then emerges that dries in the air to form the resin.
Turmeric - more than a spice
Turmeric from the Curcuma longa plant has been used for several millennia and was one of the most valuable and important spices back then, and it is still a basic ingredient in curry powder. Besides its use as a spice, turmeric was used to dye paper or fabrics because of its intense colour and dyeing power.
The natural ingredients of the turmeric root are diverse: it contains essential oils, sugars, proteins, resins, camphor, salicylates and curcuminoids, which are among the value-giving active ingredients of turmeric and the group of phenols.
The curcuminoids themselves are composed of curcumin (77%), demethoxycurcumin (17%) and bis-demethoxycurcumin (3%).
Fairvital's turmeric extract has been standardised to contain 95% curcuminoids. For optimised absorption, black pepper extract has been added to the product. The piperine contained supports good bioavailability.
Ginger - spicy tuber
Botanically, ginger (Zingiber officinale) is related to turmeric, as they both come from the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). Apart from their appearance, however, the two root plants do not have much in common. The main difference lies in the ingredients.
In contrast to turmeric, ginger has a sharp, spicy taste and an aromatic smell. This is due to the essential oils, resin acids and the active substance gingerol contained in ginger. Furthermore, ginger contains vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and sodium, in addition to monoterpenes such as borneol and cineol.
Vitamin C for the immune system
Vitamin C, also known by the scientific name ascorbic acid, has antioxidant properties and is essential for the function of the immune system, as the activity of the body's defences (killer cells, leukocytes, etc.) depends on a sufficient supply of vitamin C.
Furthermore, vitamin C is able to protect the cells from oxidative stress, an excess of free radicals in the organism, by rendering them harmless.

Recommended intake:
